Ulrike Hahn has been PhD candidate at Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam under the supervision of professors Filip Vermeylen, Pauwke Berkers and Katja Kwastek. In 2019, the Dutch Research Council NWO awarded a PhD in the Humanities grant for their proposal to investigate the connection of the visual arts to climate change. The focus of the PhD is on contemporary artists (interviews with active artists in 2021 and 2022), contemporary artistic practices (artworks from 2006, 2013, 2014/15/18, 2020), recent journalistic coverage (timeframe 2015-2021), and current curatorial choices and audience perceptions (exhibitions under study were inaugurated in May 2022 and July 2022). Ulrike Hahn's artistic portfolio includes photography, video essays and paintings. She has given several creative workshops and presentations on art, circularity and sustainability, for example as part of the projects by ACCEZ (Accelerating Circular Economy Zuid-Holland).
