GROWERS
By walking through the building we saw different stages of the building. When thinking of the building we thought of the building as a metaphor of growth. This building used to be a technical school and now it is a collaborative building where people can fill in their own space with different kind of bodies.

The project is seen as a single-room exhibition. The main idea was to show the audience the growth in its different essences. The exhibition will lead everyone to their own, and maybe even new, conclusions. As for the audience, the exhibition is open to everyone, however, our primary audience are the RASL Minor students, people within the Hillevliet community, and those, who are in the constant search of themselves and their place in this world. For those, who are in the state of transitional crisis.

The idea of mycelium comes from the perspective that in nature, in order for something living to grow, something has to die in order to support that growth.
The growth is a multi-dimensional concept. And each dimension deserves to be paid attention to.

"What is growth to you?"

When talking about growth - it is the process that matters the most. The same as in learning.
While researching the website of Hillevliet building, we noticed that they value the community and believe that “together we can do more than alone” and based on this, we believe that our learning experience can reinforce the value of community and communal learning within the individuals working in Hillevliet Building.

We came up with an idea of a short movie which consists of the compilation of interviews with people form the Hillevliet community, where each person extends the concept of growth and shares their own perception on growth, which gives the project more undisciplinarity

When we initially got interested in studying personal growth, we were stuck with a psychological view on mental development but came to realize that growth is so much more than just a simple monodisciplinary concept. For our research on growth, we are interested to hear how different people (e.g., age, education, socioeconomic status) understand the word ‘growth’ and for that we are going to interview the Hillevliet community as well as invite the students from the minor to share their perceptions on growth. We are also going to search definitions and studies on growth from a variety of disciplines and find inspirational artwork on growth as a part of our research.
The aim of this learning experience is to compare your experiences with growth to the experiences of the others, to connect with people by finding similar perceptions on growth.
An academic research will also be carried out. Despite the fact that it is important to learn about personal perceptions and definitions , it is also significant to pay attention to the scientific definitions of growth, in order to provide a broader look on a concept of growth
WHAT IS GROWTH?
"The act or process, or a manner of growing; development; gradual increase."
I see growth as a personal experience where you always come out better than before. In nature growth only occurs when something else dies.
What is growth?
The Living Station:

- Knowledge multiplies when it is shared (10e example)
- Growth in the economy etc → tensions between definitions of growth
- Different experiences of growth - framing different questions leading to certain types of growth
- Growth is relational → you can’t see growth without comparing current to previous
- For one to growth can mean that another cannot grow anymore
- Degrowth, decay, losing growth
- Need for growth/always growing → implicitly saying that you are not ready, not good enough

When does growing end? death?
-->We are bacteria in a petri dish that eventually die

Are we the only species that have a possibility to make a choice of growth?

Ideas for the exhibition?
- Growing plants → giving a seed to participants
- Mycelium → seeing the growth and decay of it → visual perspective

SIEBE
I study Advertising & Beyond at the WdKA. In my practice I like always add interactivity or some sort of experience. Working with different mediums I like to prototype while doing research.

In my work I unconsciously take inspiration from the place I grew up in. Which has a lot of nature, personal items and nostalgia and combining this with new technologies. or technical installations.
I also get a lot of inspiration from music.
I like making work with objects that are already existing around me.
